Co-founded by Shana Melius and Norman "Storm" Bell with event partners Richera Jones, Tiffani Hilton and Isis Harris, this prestigious event honors the artists, industry leaders, and trailblazers who have shaped the music industry and empowered communities through their talents. In partnership with NYC Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, NYC Councilman Kevin Riley, NYC Councilwoman Nantasha Williams, NYC Councilwoman Althea Stevens, and NYC BLAC, this event highlights the pivotal role of music in social change and empowerment.
Each year, the Music & Power Awards coincides with the celebration of Black Music Month, a tradition that was started by Kenny Gamble in 1979. Black Music Month serves as a time to recognize the rich history, artistry, and influence of Black musicians who have transcended genres and made a lasting impact on music worldwide.
